Chanelle Shepherd
Molecular and Medical Pharmacology
Chanelle has a strong passion for immunology, synthetic biology, and therapeutic development. She earned her B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UC Santa Cruz before joining the UCSF PROPEL post-baccalaureate program and working as a Staff Research Associate across the laboratories of Drs. Wendell Lim, Scott Zamvil, and Michael Wilson. There, Chanelle worked on engineering targeted T cell therapies for multiple sclerosis (MS) and glioblastoma — from CAR-T cells targeting B cells in a mouse MS model to synNotch T cells for brain-specific delivery of suppressive cytokines and CARs. Chanelle is beyond excited to continue learning and advancing cell and gene therapies in the Kohn Lab! Outside of the lab, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, knitting, backpacking/camping/hiking, and diving in the ocean!
